Biography

Quebec rock band founded in 1993 in Saint-Georges de Beauce, composed of Jean-François Bernatchez, Jean-François Dubé, Martin Roby, Michelle Lambert and Samuel Busque. Noir Silence took part in their first competition, Cégeps rock, in 1993. The band won second place and the prize for best French-language composition. Following this, the band released a 2,000-copy self-titled EP. They then took part in the Empire des futures and Cégeps en spectacle competitions. Their self-titled debut album is released in 1995, with the hit " On jase de toi ". It went on to win three Félix awards at the ADISQ gala: group of the year, album of the year and revelation of the year. Following these successes, as well as playing shows in Quebec and the Maritimes, he crossed the Atlantic to perform at the Spa Festival in Belgium, the Francofolies de la Rochelle and Chamonix (France). Between 1996 and 2002, the band released four albums: Noël He Nous! in 1996, Piège in 1997, Tout l'Monde in 1999 and Mae-Geri in 2002. After a few years' absence, the band reunited in 2006 to play a few shows and return to the studio to release Immortellement célèbre in 2008. Over the course of the 2010 decade, in addition to playing live, the band produced two new albums. In 2021, the band releases its tenth album, 10.
