Biography

Born Marjolaine Morin on August 2, 1953 in Montreal (Canada), Marjo is a pop-rock singer from Quebec. In 1978, she joined the group Corbeau as a singer. The group released three albums between 1978 and 1984. The songs " Illégal ", " J'lâche pas " and " Maladie d'amour " are the group's most memorable. In 1985, she took part in the Quebec-Africa Foundation, singing for the Les Yeux de la Faim project. She released her first solo album in 1986, Celle Qui Va, where two songs reached number one on the Quebec charts: " Chats sauvages " (13 weeks) and " Doux " (9 weeks). The opus is certified double platinum, with over 200,000 sales. That same year, she opened for Eartha Kitt. In 1988, she collaborated with Gerry Boulet on " Les Yeux du coeur ". Marjo released her second album in 1990, Tant Qu'Il Y Aura des Enfants . In addition to placing four songs at the top of the charts with this opus - " À bout de ciel ", " Je sais, je sais ", " Y'a des matins " and the title track - it was certified double platinum and won the Félix award for Album of the Year at the ADISQ gala in 1991. The singer's third album, Bohémienne , was released in 1995. It went platinum the same year, selling over 100,000 copies. In 1998, she released Bootleg Blues, a blues album, and in 2001, Sans Retour , a compilation of her greatest hits. She returned in November 2005 with Turquoise , a more pop album than her previous releases. In 2009 and 2010, she launches the Marjo Et Ses Hommes project , two albums on which she duets with a singer or a group on each song, followed by a tour of Quebec. In 2023, she became a coach for the TV show La Voix , broadcast on TVA in Quebec.
