Biography
Noel Pointer was an American jazz violinist and record producer, born on December 26, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his solo debut at age 13 performing Vivaldi with the Symphony of the New World. While attending Manhattan School of Music, Pointer began playing jazz and established himself as a session musician. From 1977 to 1981, he released several solo albums, four of which reached top 5 on Billboard's jazz chart. His debut album Phantazia (1977) went platinum. He was also a guest soloist on Miliraâs "Mercy, Mercy, Me (The Ecology)" (1990). Pointer's albums All My Reasons (1981) and Direct Hit (1982) were nominated for Grammy Awards. In 1993, he released his final album Never Lose Your Heart. Pointer died of a stroke on December 19, 1994, at age 39.
