Biography

Although singer-songwriter Niko Moon identifies as being a country music artist, his music shows an interesting mix of pop, R&B, hip-hop, and reggae influences, as well. Born "Nicholas Cowan" on September 20, 1982, he was raised in Tyler, Texas, by a truck-driving father who influenced Moon's musical interests as a child. A talented athlete, Moon won a scholarship to Samford University in Alabama, but soon his love of music became more important to him than his studies and he dropped out to concentrate on his music career. It was at this time that he met Zac Brown and collaborated with him as a songwriter on tracks such as "Homegrown," "Keep Me in Mind," "Loving You Easy," and "Heavy Is the Head," which were all released in 2015. Brown and Moon joined forces with Ben Simonetti in 2017 to form the electronic dance group Sir Rosevelt, but after a couple of years, Moon decided to branch out on his own. He signed for RCA Nashville and, in 2019, released the singles "Good Time," "Drunk Over You," and "Way Back." "Good Time" became a Number 1 hit on both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts in 2020, earning triple-platinum status along the way. It also appeared on the studio album Good Time, which was released in 2021 and reached number 12 on the Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. A second album, Better Days, followed in early 2024.
