Biography

Nicholas Scott Cannon (October 8, 1980) is an American actor, rapper, and comedian. Born in San Diego, California, he first gained fame as a teenager on the sketch comedy show All That and later created the hip-hop crew Da G4 Dope Bomb Squad before signing with Jive Records in 2001. Following a feature alongside Lil Romeo on the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius soundtrack, he made his official solo debut with a self-titled album in 2003. The album contained the R. Kelly collaboration "Gigolo," which became a Top 10 hit on the US rap charts upon its release. After creating his own label Can-I-Ball Records in 2005, Nick Cannon issued the single "Can I Live?" and planned to release a second full-length titled Stages that was eventually shelved due to his burgeoning acting career. Over the next few years, he further raised his profile by becoming the host of the show America's Got Talent and reached the Top 5 of Billboard's Comedy Albums chart with the LP Mr. Showbiz (2011). During this time, he also married singer Mariah Carey, with whom he had 2 children before divorcing in 2014. Nick Cannon would resume his musical endeavors a few months later on his second studio outing White People Party Music, which featured Future, Takeoff, and Quavo on the single "Pajama Pants." The Gospel of Ike Turn Up: My Side of the Story, his second mixtape, appeared in 2016. This was followed by the controversial Eminem diss tracks "The Invitation" with Suge Knight, Hitman Holla, Charlie Clips, and Prince Eazy, "Pray for Him," and "The Invitation Cancelled" in 2019, as well as by his third album The Explicit Tape: Raw & B (2022). Featuring guest appearances by K. Michelle, Jacquees, Rick Ross, and Brandy, the album yielded the Chris Brown collaboration "I Do," which peaked at Number 29 on the Adult R&B Songs chart. In addition to his music career, Cannon has also had success as an actor, starring in films such as Roll Bounce and Drumline, as well as on television shows like Up All Night and The Masked Singer.
