Biography
Hello is an English glam-rock band formed in the late 1960s, originally known as The Age. The group consisted of Bob Bradbury (vocals, guitar), Keith Marshall (guitar), Jeffrey Allen (drums), and Vic Faulkner (bass). In 1971, they changed their name to Hello after being managed by David Blaylock, who was a former road manager for the Zombies. The band's breakthrough came when they were discovered by Russ Ballard of Argent during a performance at the Rolling Mills Club in Edmonton, London. Hello's initial releases on Bell Records did not achieve commercial success. However, their fortunes changed with the release of "Tell Him" in 1974, which reached the top 10 in England and Germany. This was followed by another hit, "New York Groove", written by Russ Ballard, which charted across Europe in late 1975. The band released several albums, including Keeps Us Off the Streets (1976), Shine On Silver Light (1977), and Hello Again (1978). Their last single in Germany, "Feel This Thing" (1978), failed to chart, leading to the band's disbandment. Post-breakup, guitarist Keith Marshall had solo success with "Only Crying" in 1981. Hello reunited for occasional concerts in Germany, featuring original member Bob Bradbury, releasing several compilations over the next two decades.
