Ngaiire Laun Joseph, known professionally as Ngaiire, was born on August 3, 1984, in Lae, Papua New Guinea. She moved to Australia and began her musical journey with a Bachelor of Jazz Studies at Central Queensland University in 2003. Ngaiire gained early recognition by competing as a semi-finalist in the second season of Australian Idol in 2004. She then worked with Blue King Brown and Paul Mac as a session vocalist before releasing her debut EP, Song for No One, in 2007. Her first studio album, Lamentations, was released in July 2013, followed by Blastoma in June 2016, and 3 in August 2021. Ngaiire's rendition of "Back to the Middle" on Australian Idol was ranked among the top 10 performances by Buzzfeed in 2014.
