Jhun Alexander Ferrer, better known by his stage name Newkid, is a Swedish-Filipino rapper. Newkid was born in Uddevalla, Sweden on 2 December 1990. He got his start as a rapper in 2011 when he launched his debut album, the eponymous record Alexander JR Ferrer, and his debut single "Jag gråter bara i regnet." After a seven-year absence, Newkid returned in 2018 with the album SS/AW18, released through Sony Music's Swedish arm. 2019 saw Newkid go on an extensive tour, performing 40 different dates including his first headline show at the Vasateatern in Stockholm in the lead-up to the launch of a third album. Released in 2020, Mount Jhun climbed to Number 3 on the Swedish charts thanks to singles like "Kanske var vi rätt bra ändå," "Ingen luft mellan oss," and "Vänner" with Myra Granberg. More success followed in 2022 when Newkid dropped his fourth full-length Vi, which topped the Sverigetopplistan aided by the Top 10 single "Våga." Beyond his solo work, Newkid has recorded with Mack Beats, Petter, Yaiya, Molly Sanden, Victor Leskell, Dani M, Ison & Fille, Estraden, Hkeem, Tjuvjakt, Stig Brenner, and Reyn. In 2024, "Underbart" reached number 86 on Sverigetopplistan chart, followed by "Hurricane", number 47 in 2026.
