Nad Sylvan (born Hughâ¯Erik Stewart, Juneâ¯4,â¯1959, California) is a Swedish neo-progressive rock singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known as the frontman for Steve Hackettâs Genesis Revisited tours. A dynamic solo artist and collaborator, he has built a distinctive presence in modern prog since the early 2000s. Raised in Sweden, where he began piano at age four, he later fronted youth bands like White Lightning and Avenue in the 1970s, influenced by Genesis, Deep Purple, and Zappa. Between 1989â96, retreated into his studio, eventually releasing The Home Recordings (1995, reissued as Blue Waters, 1999). Follow-up The Life of a Housewifeâa pop-opera tribute responding to personal tragedyâarrived in 1997, while 2003's Sylvanite brought him acclaim in Sweden and led to collaborations with engineer Michael B. Tretow. He joined Genesis Revisited with Steve Hackett in 2012, resulting in several studio/live albums and extensive global tours. The 2020s saw him release solo albums such as Spiritus Mundi (2021) and 2025's Monumentata.
