Formed in Clermont-Ferrand in 2006, the Mustang trio comprises Jean Felzine (guitar, piano and vocals), Johan Gentile (guitar) and Rémi Faure (drums). Fans of the rock'n'roll of Bo Diddley and Jerry Lee Lewis, the musicians released their first self-produced EP in 2007, before performing at the Printemps de Bourges festival. Autumn 2009 saw the release of the Le Pantalon EP, including the track of the same name, which is also the title track of the debut album A71, released in October on the A Rag label. This debut album was released in 2010 in Japan, where Mustang took part in the Fuji Rock Festival in July. Released in France in 2011, the second album Tabou confirms the band's Asian reputation, also benefiting from a Japanese release. The trio returned in 2014 with Ãcran Total, which marked an opening towards pop. After the release of the EP Karaboudjan (2017) and Live in the U.K. (2018), Mustang returned in 2021 with the studio album Memento Mori, followed three years later by Megaphenix, featuring Arthur Teboul (Feu! Chatterton) on one track. Drummer Rémi Faure dies on November 16, 2025.
