Biography

Mundo Livre S/A, a rock group from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, was formed in 1984. The band emerged from the same neighborhood where the manifesto Caranguejos com Cérebro (Crabes with Brain) was written, a key document of the mangue beat movement. Fred Zero Quatro, the group's vocalist and one of the authors of the manifesto, along with Renato L. and Chico Science, played a pivotal role in shaping this movement. Mundo Livre S/A is recognized as one of the founding groups of manguebeat movement. The band released their debut album Samba esquema noise in 1994, followed by several other albums including Guentando a ôia (1996), Carnaval na obra (1998), and Por pouco (2000). Their ninth album, Walking Dead Folia (Sorria Você Teve Alta!), was released in 2022.
