Biography
Moxy, a Canadian hard rock band, was formed in Toronto in 1973. The group debuted at Scarborough's Knob Hill Hotel in October 1974 and released their first single "Can't You See I'm A Star" that year. In December 1974, Moxy signed with Polydor Records of Canada and released their self-titled debut album in 1975. The band's breakthrough came with "Can't You See I'm A Star" becoming a hit, which led to tours across Canada and the United States. Moxy's second album, Moxy II, was recorded in Toronto with producer Jack Douglas and released in 1976, garnering international press coverage and critical acclaim. Notable songs include "Sail on Sail Away" (1975) and "Take It Or Leave It" (1976). The band disbanded in 1983 following the death of Douglas "Buzz" Shearman but reunited in 1999. Subsequent releases include A Tribute to Buzz Shearman (1984), Self-Destruction (1994), Moxy V (2000), and Raw (2002).
