Biography

Scott Zhang, known professionally as Monsune, is a Canadian indie pop and synthpop musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer from Toronto. Born in 1998, he began his music career while studying radio and television arts at Ryerson University. His debut single, "Nothing in Return", was released in 2017. In 2019, Zhang released the EP Tradition, which included notable tracks such as "OUTTA MY MIND", a song that garnered over 30 million views on YouTube and significantly boosted his popularity. He has also contributed to high-profile projects, co-producing "Saturn" from SZA's second studio album re-issue, Lana. Additionally, Zhang worked on Drake’s sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, contributing to the track "Race My Mind". His single "MOUNTAIN", released in 2019, was nominated for the SOCAN Songwriting Prize in 2020.
