Biography

Monsula was an American punk rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, formed in 1988 by Pete Zetterberg and Paul Lee during an art class at Benicia High School. The band quickly established themselves in the local scene, performing regularly at Berkeley's Gilman Street Project. Their debut release was a four-song 7" compilation titled If You Can See Through It, It Ain't Coffee in 1990 on Very Small Records. Monsula released their first EP, Nickel E.P., later that year on Lookout! Records. In 1991, they released their debut full-length album, Structure, followed by Sanitized in 1992, both on Lookout! Records. The band was known for their simple East Bay pop punk style and played hundreds of live shows throughout North America before disbanding in 1993. Notable members included Paul Lee as vocalist and lyricist, Pete Zetterberg (who was in the band only in 1988), and Jason White on guitar.
