Biography

Mittagspause was a German punk rock band from Düsseldorf, formed in July 1978. They emerged from Charley’s Girls, which included Peter Hein on vocals, Franz Bielmeier on guitar, and Markus Oehlen on drums. Their early lineup also featured Gabi Delgado-López as a second vocalist and later Thomas Schwebel on guitar in 1979. A breakthrough moment came with a first performance at the SO36-Eröffnungsfestival in August 1978. They released the debut double single Mittagspause (1979), containing "Militürk" (1979) and "Ernstfall" (1979), followed by the single "Herrenreiter/Paff" (1979). In December 1979, they performed a final concert at Okie Dokie in Neuss. Despite disbanding in 1980, their influence persisted through later releases such as the live album Punk macht dicken Arsch (1981), the demo compilation Herrenreiter (1992), and the compilation 1979-1982 (2004).
