Mitch Woods, born on April 3, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American pianist and singer known for his work in modern-day boogie-woogie, jazz, and jump blues. He started playing clubs near the State University of New York Buffalo campus before moving to San Francisco in 1971. Woods formed the band Rocket 88s with HiTide Harris, releasing their debut album Steady Date on Blind Pig Records. This led to national and European tours. Notable releases include Keeper of the Flame (1996) and Big Easy Boogie (2006). In 2007, he was nominated for the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year Award at the Blues Awards in Memphis. He also released several albums, including A Tip of the Hat to Fats (2019) and Happy Hour (2024).
