Michael Renkel is a German concert guitarist and composer born in 1965 in Celle. He studied classical guitar in Hamburg and developed a musical style in the mid-1980s that incorporated instrument preparations and advanced playing techniques. Renkel's work involved aleatoric composition, variable forms, and structures influenced by figures such as John Cage and Morton Feldman.
