Michael Haggins is an American bassist and songwriter, born in the United States. He received his first guitar at age 8 and played alto saxophone in his school band at 11. Haggins studied jazz at Pasadena City College and later majored in communications at California State University, Long Beach. Haggins' debut album, Daybreak, was released in 2004, followed by Traffic in 2008. His music has been featured on various television shows and films, including the NBC sitcom Community, where Daybreak was hummed by characters in multiple episodes. In 2015, he released his album Dare to Dream. Haggins' sound combines funk and smooth jazz, inspired by artists such as Stanley Clarke and Earth Wind & Fire. He records on the independent label Cuate Records.
