Biography

Micah Paul Hinson, born on February 3, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee, is an American singer and guitarist. He grew up in Abilene, Texas, where his musical journey began at age 11 when he received his first guitar from his father. His early influences included Neil Diamond and John Denver, as well as his older brother's Ministry and The Cure records. Hinson recorded his first full demo, The Baby and the Satellite, around 2000. This demo garnered interest from Rough Trade Records and Sketchbook Records, leading to a record deal with the latter in 2003. His debut album, Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress, was released in September 2004 to critical acclaim. Notable follow-up albums include Micah P. Hinson and the Opera Circuit (October 2006) and Micah P. Hinson and the Red Empire Orchestra (July 2008). Throughout his career, Hinson has been known for his Americana sound, releasing albums such as And the Nothing (March 2014), Presents the Holy Strangers (September 2017) and When I Shoot at You with Arrows, I Will Shoot to Destroy You (October 2018).
