Ignacio Urtizberea, known as Mexâ¯Urtizberea, was born in Buenos Aires on 25â¯Octoberâ¯1960. Growing up in a family of performers, he entered the music scene in 1980 as a member of M.I.A. (Músicos Independientes Asociados). His early career included the 1988 release of La Sonora del Plata with the eponymous band, followed by the 1990 album Matina. In 1994 he collaborated with Alfredoâ¯Casero on Gestando a la Halibour, featuring Javierâ¯Malosetti and Litoâ¯Vitale. The first solo effort, Que la bese, appeared in 2005 and reached the market in 2006, showcasing eleven tracks. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Mexâ¯Urtizberea expanded his presence into television, hosting shows such as De La Cabeza, Chaâ¯Chaâ¯Cha, and Magazine For Fai, and acting in series like Los Exitosos Pells and Graduados. His versatility extended to radio programs and live theatre, notably the 2010 stage show Pasión inútil. In 2011 he received the MartÃnâ¯Fierro de Cable for best humor work, and in 2012 he earned a MartÃnâ¯Fierro nomination for his role in Los Exitosos Pells. In the following years, he returned to recording with Mua (2015), and in the 2020s he launched the conversation-and-music cycle ¡FA!, which expanded into the collaborative albums FAlklore (2025) and FAlklore Vol. 2 (2025), tying his live-curation persona back to his musician identity.
