Meursault is a Scottish indie rock, alternative rock, and lo-fi band from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 2006 by singer-songwriter Neil Pennycook. They released their first EP Making the Most of the Raw Materials of Futility in 2006 through Struck Dum Records and their debut album Pissing on Bonfires / Kissing with Tongues in 2008. They gained traction through performances at major festivals like RockNess, T in the Park, and Glastonbury, as well as regular airplay on BBC radio. Their discography expanded with their second album All Creatures Will Make Merry (2010). Their third studio album Something for the Weakened (2012) was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year Award in 2013. In 2014, they announced their disbandment, but reunited in 2016 with Pennycook leading a rotating lineup. Their notable releases during this period included the mini-album The Organ Grinder's Monkey (2014), the EP Simple Is Good (2016), and the albums I Will Kill Again (2017), which was shortlisted for the SAY Award, Fuck Off Back to Art School & Other Stories (2018), and Crow Hill (2019).
