Metis is a Japanese reggae singer and songwriter born on 28 March 1984 in Hiroshima. She achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by reggae and J-pop. After beginning as an R&B artist she signed with a new label to pursue reggae. Her recording career began with the indie mini-album ANSWER (2005) followed by the mini-album MUSIC (2006). She achieved professional recognition for the major debut mini-album WOMAN (2006). Her discography includes the major debut single "梅は咲いたか 桜はまだかいな" (2007) which was recorded in Jamaica and focused on supporting students taking entrance exams. She achieved professional recognition for the tracks "Respect!" (2007), "花鳥風月" (2007), and "母賛歌" (2008). Her recording career includes the debut studio recording ONE LOVE (2007) which exceeded 70,000 copies in shipments. She achieved professional recognition for the track "ずっとそばに…" (2009) and the studio recordings ONE HEART (2009) and ONE SOUL (2011). Metis appeared on the radio program Validelight no Buchi-vali-night and conducted the Metis LIVE TOUR 2007 "ONE LOVE".
