Raequel Miller, known professionally as Mercedes, is an American singer and rapper born on May 1, 1978, in Detroit. Miller performed Shirley Murdock's âAs We Layâ at a talent show at Xavier University in New Orleans, where she met the ensemble Kane & Abel. This led to a recording contract with No Limit Records. Miller released her debut studio recording, Rear End, on June 29, 1999. The album featured appearances by Mystikal, Mac, Mia X, and Master P. The recording reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 and number 12 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Her single âIt's Your Thingâ reached number 71 on the US charts in 1999. Miller retired from the music industry to attend law school.
