Paul Winter Consort, a group from the United States led by saxophonist Paul Winter, was formed in 1967. The ensemble blends elements of classical music, jazz, and world music, along with sounds of animals and nature. Their debut album, The Winter Consort, was released in 1968. Throughout their career, the group has featured musicians including David Darling, Paul McCandless, Ralph Towner, Glen Moore, and Collin Walcott. The band's discography includes albums such as Something in the Wind (1969), Road (1970), produced by Phil Ramone, and Icarus (1972). Paul Winter Consort has also released Concert for the Earth (1985) and Spanish Angel (1993), which won a Grammy Award. The group was known for their Winter Solstice Celebration concerts at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York.
