Biography
Melt Yourself Down, a London-based band, was formed in January 2012 by saxophonist Pete Wareham. The group incorporated elements of West African musical styles, punk, jazz, and funk. Wareham, former leader of the defunct jazz/punk band Acoustic Ladyland, assembled the original lineup with musicians he had worked with previously, including saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, drummer Tom Skinner, vocalist Kushal Gaya, bassist Ruth Goller, and percussionist Satin Singh. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2013, featuring the singles "We Are Enough", "Release!", and "Fix My Life". Their second studio album, Last Evenings on Earth, was released in 2016. In 2019, Melt Yourself Down signed to Decca Records and released their third studio album, 100% Yes, in 2020, followed by Pray for Me I Don't Fit In (2022). The band's music has been noted for its intense blend of jazz, punk, and African elements, garnering positive reviews from critics.
