Mellowdrone is an American rock band formed in 1999 in Los Angeles, California. The group originated as a solo project by Jonathan Bates and expanded to include members Tony DeMatteo, Scott Ellis, and Greg Griffith. In 2006, the ensemble released its debut album, Box, through Columbia Records. In 2008, the band released the single "Oh My" and the recording Maquina 7". Their track "Gravity" reached Number 1 on the CHR Rock charts. Mellowdrone music appeared on television series such as Project Runway and Six Feet Under, and the song "Oh My" was included on the FIFA 07 soundtrack. In 2010, Bates began the solo project Big Black Delta. In 2017, the band reunited for a collaboration with members of The Neighbourhood. In 2018, the ensemble released the EPs 2018 and 3.
