Biography

Meg Hutchinson is an American folk singer-songwriter and guitarist from South Egremont, Massachusetts, born in 1978. Influenced by poets Mary Oliver and Robert Frost, Hutchinson began songwriting at age 11 after inheriting a 1957 Martin guitar. She graduated from Bard College at Simon's Rock with a degree in creative writing before relocating to Boston.Hutchinson launched her recording career with the albums Meg Hutchinson (1996) and Against the Grey (1999). After winning the Kerrville New Folk Award in 2000, she released the live CD Any Given Day (2001) and the studio album The Crossing (2004). She signed with Red House Records for the releases Come Up Full (2008) and The Living Side (2010), which reached number 10 and number 15 on the Folk radio charts, respectively. Her accolades include recognition from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Billboard Song Contest.
