Mealticket was an American ska punk band formed in late 1991 in Van Nuys, California. The group consisted of members from the Van Nuys High School marching band and initially included Alfie Larreau on saxophone and vocals, Edwin Portillo on bass guitar, Bill Meadows on guitar, Richard Ferreira on trombone, Derrick Conyers on trumpet, Chris Taylor on drums, and David Ferreira on keyboards and guitar. Their first gig was at the Natural Fudge Cafe in Los Angeles in 1991. After several lineup changes, including the addition of Genai Canale as lead vocalist in 1992, Mealticket released their debut album Misconceptions in 1994 on their own label "Pork 'n Beans Records." The band's second album, 13 Apologies, followed in July 1996. In 1997, they released the EP Lisa Marie. Mealticket disbanded amicably later that year. Their final release was a retrospective compilation titled Super Positive, issued by Tachyon Records.
