Biography

Erivaldo Júnior Alves de Oliveira, known professionally as Mestrinho, was born on November 18, 1988, in Itabaiana, Sergipe, Brazil, and is an accordionist, songwriter, and singer. He began playing the accordion at six, performing with local bands by eleven, and joined Trio Juriti in 2006 after relocating to São Paulo. His solo career launched with the 2014 album Opinião, followed by the 2017 album É Tempo pra Viver featuring Ivete Sangalo and Dominguinhos, the 2018 album Mestrinho no Estúdio Showlivre, the 2019 album Grito de Amor, and the 2021 album Solitude. Notable singles include "A Flor" (2019) and "Eu e Você" (2020). Mestrinho has collaborated with Gilberto Gil, Hermeto Pascoal, and Elba Ramalho, toured nationally and internationally, and performed a solo show at Rock in Rio, marking a significant milestone in Brazilian accordion music. In 2025, he released the LP Dominguinho, a collaborative album with João Gomes and Jota.pê that earned a Latin Grammy for Best Portuguese Language Roots Album and included “Beija Flor,” one of his most widely recognized recordings.
