Maurice John Vaughn, born on May 10, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, is an American blues musician and singer. He started his career in 1968 as a saxophonist with R&B groups in Chicago. In 1976, he recorded with the Chosen Few and toured Canada in 1979 with Phil Guy. Vaughn played as a sideman for notable artists such as Luther Allison, Son Seals, Junior Wells, Valerie Wellington, and A.C. Reed. Albums include his debut solo effort, Generic Blues Album (1984), released on his own Reecy Records label and reissued by Alligator Records in 1987. In the 1990s, Vaughn collaborated with Detroit Junior and worked as an A&R for Appaloosa Records. He also released In the Shadow of the City (1993), which included the song "(Everything I Do) Got To Be Funky", featured on the soundtrack of the film Major League II.
