Biography

Mattias Alkberg, born on January 8, 1969 in Luleå, Sweden, was a Swedish poet, songwriter, and musician. He began his musical journey in the 1980s as a drummer for the hardcore band Joon Erektion. In 1992, he formed The Bear Quartet, where he served as both singer and guitarist. Alkberg's poetic career started with the publication of Separerade Ägg in 1992. His musical output includes solo albums such as Nerverna (2009), Anarkist (2011), and Personer (2015). With The Bear Quartet, he released notable works like "Penny Century" (1992) and "Family Affair" (1993). Alkberg received several accolades, including the Rubus Arcticus prize in 1999 and the Stig Sjödin prize in 2016. His contributions to literature were also recognized with awards such as the Norrlands Litteraturpris in 2003.
