Biography

Matthew Bourne, born on 6 October 1977 in Avebury, England, is a British jazz musician known for his work as a pianist. He began playing trombone at age nine and later took up the cello before teaching himself piano. Bourne's career breakthrough came with his graduation from Leeds College of Music in 2001, where he earned an MMus in jazz studies. His first solo album, The Molde Concert, recorded live at the Molde International Jazz Festival, received positive reviews for its inventive use of samples and virtuosic performances. Notable albums include Montauk Variations (2012), which won the Leftfield Album of the Year award by the Sunday Times, moogmemory (2016) and Isotach (2017).
