Biography

Mathilde Grooss Viddal, born on May 6, 1969 in Oslo, Norway, is a saxophonist and composer known for her work in jazz. She studied at the University of Oslo's Department of Musicology and the Agder Conservatory of Music. Grooss Viddal began her music career in Mo i Rana from 1993 to 1995. Her notable collaborations include a duo with Trude Eick, known for their album November Log (2008), and her ensemble Friensemblet, which has released six albums since 2004. Notable works include "Breathe – The Core of Human Existence" performed on International Jazz Day in 2022 and the album Out Of Silence (2017). Grooss Viddal also taught saxophone and clarinet at the Bærum Music and Culture School and the University of Oslo.
