Biography
Mateo & Matos, comprising John “Roc” Mateo and Eddie “E-Z” Matos, are American DJs and house music producers from New York City. Influenced by late 1970s disco, they began their journey in 1985 when Mateo started broadcasting sets over his CB radio, leading to their first encounter. By 1986, they were performing at club festivals and block parties in the tri-state area of New York. Their early productions led to releases on labels such as Final Cut Records, Oxygen Music Works, Henry Street, Nervous Records, Nite Grooves, and Spiritual Life Music. In 1997, their debut album New York Rhythms was released on Glasgow Underground Recordings. Notable releases include “No Props 1 1/2” (1996) and The No Props E.P. (1995).
