Biography

Masahiko Kondo (born July 19, 1964) is a singer, actor, businessman, racer, and TV personality from Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In October 1979, he made his debut as Kiyoshi Hoshino, a student in the TBS TV drama "3 years B class Kinpachi sensei". On December 12, 1980, he made his debut as a solo singer with "Sneaker Buresu," which became a million-seller. In 1987, he won the 29th Japan Record Award for "Fool" and in 1982, the Golden Idol Award. In 2005, he released "Chosensha" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his debut, and performed at dinner shows and New Year's Eve live shows. 2006 saw him resume his acting career, starring in the drama series "Inspector Okabe. In 2012, he released the single "Zanbara," which drew attention for its mature, melancholy worldview and overwhelming vocal ability. The song, a fusion of Japanese melody and modern sound, became popular as one of the songs that brought out Kondo's new charm.
