Martha Copeland, born in Portsmouth, Virginia, was an American blues singer. She began her career performing at the Pekin Theater in Richmond and later toured with Zack Copeland's vaudeville troupe. In 1923, Copeland made her first recordings with pianist Eddie Heywood Sr. for Okeh Records. Her breakthrough came when manager Joe Davis signed her to Columbia Records in 1926, leading to notable releases such as "On Decoration Day" (1927) and "Fortune Teller Blues" (1927). Copeland recorded 34 blues titles for labels including Okeh, Columbia, and Victor and also toured with the vaudeville revue Shuffle Along. Her recordings were released on two CDs by Document Records in 1995.
