Biography

Rapper Marten Laciny, known under the stage names Marteria and Marsimoto, was born in Rostock on December 4, 1982. As a youngster, he was a successful footballer and also played for the German U-national teams before making a career as an actor and model. He then took his first musical steps with the Rostock-based band Underdog Cru and released his debut album Base Ventura in 2007. With the song "Verstrahlt" (feat. Yasha) from his second album Zum Glück in die Zukunft, he succeeded in gaining greater attention as an artist for the first time in 2010. His final breakthrough came in 2012 with the number 1 hit "Lila Wolken" (feat. Yasha and Miss Platnum), which went platinum in Germany and Switzerland. In the same year, he helped the Düsseldorf band Die Toten Hosen as a co-author on some of the lyrics for their album Ballast der Republik. His third longplayer Zum Glück in die Zukunft II (2014) made it to number 1 in the German album charts and included the singles "Kids (2 Finger an den Kopf)" and "OMG!", both of which reached gold status. While his fourth album Roswell (2017) reached the top 5 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the collabo album 1982 with Casper stormed to number 1 in the German charts in 2018. The two rappers also won three 1 Live crowns for their collaboration in 2018 in the categories "Best Album", "Best Hip-Hop Act" and "Best Live Act". As his rap alter ego Marsimoto with mask and high-pitched voice, he also released the albums Halloziehnation (2006), Grüner Samt (2012), Ring der Nebelungen (2015) and Verde (2018). Another Marteria album will follow in 2021. The successful release of 5th Dimension was accompanied by the singles "Niemand bringt Marten um", "Paradise Delay " (feat. DJ Koze) and "Love, Peace & Happiness" (feat. Ätna and Yasha), all of which made it into the charts. The joint single with Die Toten Hosen "Scheiß Ossis / Scheiß Wessis" reached number 5 in the German charts in 2022. Another studio album by Marteria, Keine Intelligenz, follows in April 2024. The longplayer reaches number 3 in Germany. A good two years later, the rapper releases the album Zum Glück in die Zukunft III, with which he climbs to the top of the charts in Germany.
