Mark Alexander Ballas Jr., born on May 24, 1986, in Houston, Texas, is an American singer and dancer. He began his career as a dancer, winning multiple championships including the British Open to the World, US Open to the World, and International Open to the World. Ballas' music career started with the release of his debut album HurtLoveBox on March 2011. In addition to his solo work, Ballas is known for his role as a professional dancer on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, where he competed from 2007 onward and was nominated for an Emmy for Best Choreography in 2011. He has also acted in various productions including Copacabana and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
