Maria Voskania (born Meri Voskanian on 9â¯Decemberâ¯1987 in Yerevan, Armenia) is a German pop and schlager singer who grew up in Wasserlosen, Bavaria. After early performances with a childrenâs radio band, she received classical piano training from her parents and later joined school choirs and the Celtis Big Band. Her first public exposure came through the 2003 Popstars audition and the 2005 Deutschlandâ¯suchtâ¯denâ¯Superstar competition, where she placed twelfth. In 2007 she competed in the Armenian preâselection for the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing second among nineteen candidates. Voskania released her debut album Vomâ¯Endeâ¯zumâ¯Anfang on 16â¯Novemberâ¯2007, followed by Lustâ¯amâ¯Leben on 30â¯Mayâ¯2014, which marked her first solo schlager release. Subsequent albums include Perlenâ¯Undâ¯Gold (18â¯Februaryâ¯2016), Dasâ¯Beste (24â¯Marchâ¯2017), and Magie (25â¯Augustâ¯2017). Her singles "Wasâ¯Wäreâ¯Wenn" (23â¯Octoberâ¯2015), "Gloriaâ¯Inâ¯Excelsisâ¯Deo" (18â¯Decemberâ¯2015), "Gefallenerâ¯Engel" (2â¯Decemberâ¯2016), and "Magie" (5â¯Mayâ¯2017) received radio play across Germany. She collaborated with Helene Fischer as a background vocalist and toured with her in 2014, later contributing vocals to DJ BoBosâs 2011 Dancingâ¯Las Vegas. In 2017 she returned to Deutschlandâ¯suchtâ¯denâ¯Superstar, achieving third place.
