Maria Elisabeth Andersson Lundell, known professionally as Maria Andersson, was born on December 4, 1981, in Sweden. She is a Swedish singer-songwriter who began her music career by co-founding the rock band Sahara Hotnights in 1992, serving as the lead singer and guitarist. With Sahara Hotnights, Andersson released seven studio albums before transitioning to a solo career.
In November 2015, Andersson signed with the record label Woah Dad! and began releasing music under her own name. Her debut solo album Succession was released on April 29, 2016, featuring the single "End of Conversation."
