Marla Solís, known professionally as Mar, is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter born on July 19, 2000, in Mexico. She is the youngest daughter of renowned Latin music icon Marco Antonio Solís. Growing up in a musical household, Mar was immersed in music from an early age. She began performing in local theaters during her youth and later joined her father's tours, including performances in Chile and Mexico. In 2018, she made her debut as a solo artist with a rendition of "Extrañándote," marking the beginning of her professional music career. In 2022, she released her first official single, "Quédate," which garnered significant attention and over 5 million views on its music video within the first month. Following this success, she released "Calavera" in October 2022, a song about empowerment and resilience, which also received widespread acclaim. She followed this with the single "Take Back Your Heart" (2023) before dropping her debut album Colors of Love in 2024. A year later, the cumbia-flavored track "Bebiendo Lágrimas" reached number 21 on the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay, followed by a norteño version shortly after.
