Conor Mason was born on December 26, 1992 in Basildon, Essex, England, and grew up in Rayleigh in a family steeped in music, his father being a blues and gospel singer. He was introduced to singing and music at an early age, and in 2012 founded the band Nothing But Thieves with fellow high-school students - Joe Langridge-Brown, Dominic Craik, Philip Blake and James Price - blending alternative rock and melodic sensibilities. After signing to RCA, the band signed four successful albums between 2015 and 2023. Meanwhile, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Conor Mason plans a solo project he calls Man-Made Sunshine, in an alternative pop and electronic style. After a first single released in September 2022, "Life's Gonna Kill You (If You Let It)", Man-Made Sunshine unveiled a five-track EP under his own name two months later, followed in 2025 by the track "Love Wins Forever" and the EP of the same name.
