Biography

Makin' Time, a British band from the West Midlands towns of Willenhall, Wolverhampton and West Bromwich, formed in 1983. The group consisted of Mark McGounden on vocals/guitar, Fay Hallam on organ/vocals, Martin Blunt on bass, and Neil Clitheroe on drums. Their debut single "Here Is My Number" was produced by Pat Collier and released in June 1985. Makin' Time were signed to Countdown Records and licensed through Stiff Records, releasing three original studio albums: Rhythm and Soul (June 24, 1985), No Lumps of Fat or Gristle Guaranteed (October 1986), and Unchain My Heart (1988). A live recording, Time, Trouble and Money (Live at the 100 Club), was released on April 6, 1987. The band's energetic sound was part of the mod revival scene but did not achieve significant chart success. Makin' Time disbanded in 1986. Notable posthumous releases include Rhythm! The Complete Countdown Recordings (February 14, 2003) and "Honey / Take What You Can Get" (April 30, 2021).
