Mahmoud Tabrizi-Zadeh was an Iranian musician known for playing the santur and kamancheh. He received early training in classical Persian music from his father, initially studying santur and violin before adding the kamancheh to his repertoire. After moving to France, he studied musicology with a focus on Turkish, Armenian, and Arabic musical traditions, and later taught Persian music at the Sorbonne beginning in 1980. He toured widely across Europe and the United States and became known for collaborations with theatre director Peter Brook. Tabrizi-Zadeh died on May 23, 1997, in Paris from cancer.
