Biography
Maceo Plex is the pseudonym of Cuban-American DJ and producer Eric Estornel (November 6, 1978), also known as Maetrik and Mariel Ito. Raised between Dallas and Miami, he is well-versed in several genres of electronic music, including house music, techno, electro, and tech house. Throughout his career, Maceo Plex has performed at some of the most legendary nightclubs and venues in Ibiza such as the now-defunct Space and Amnesia and hosted his own concert series Mosaic by Maceo at the iconic Pacha. Prior to performing as Maceo Plex, he had already released a trilogy of albums under the stage name Maetrik between 2002 and 2005. He made his official debut as Maceo Plex in 2011 with the full-length Life Index, followed by Journey to Solar (2016), and Solar (2017), an album named after his baby son that found the producer branching out into ambient, electronica, breakbeats, dub, and techno. Two years later, Maceo Plex returned to the scene with the studio album Mutant Series, released through Ellum Audio in 2019.
