Biography

Luis Rico Arancibia, born on May 15, 1945, in Potosí, Bolivia, was a Bolivian singer known for his contributions to social music. His career began with interpretations of various rhythms from different regions of Bolivia and Latin America, including the joropo. Rico's early work included notable tracks such as "Muchacha de ojos negros". He traveled extensively through Europe, performing Bolivian and Latin American folklore with significant reception in France and Switzerland. His music often reflected social themes and political commentary. One of his best-known songs is "Viva mi patria Bolivia". Rico received Bolivia's National Culture Prize in 2013 for his contributions to Bolivian music.
