LuÃsa Taubkin Maita is a Brazilian singer-songwriter born on April 27, 1982, in São Paulo. Raised in a musical family by Amado Maita and Myriam Taubkin, she began singing and recording jingles as a child in the Bixiga neighborhood. In 2001, she founded the band Urbanda before pursuing a solo career. Maita wrote songs for Virginia Rosaâs album Samba a Dois in 2006 and co-wrote the track âBelezaâ for Mariana Aydar in 2009. In 2010, she released her debut studio album, Lero-Lero, which featured collaborations with Paulo Lepetit and Rodrigo Campos. The album appeared on the 2010 best-of lists in the magazines Veja and Rolling Stone Brasil. Maita received the Best New Artist award at the 2011 Brazilian Music Award and performed her first European tour that year. Her recording âLero-Leroâ was featured in the 2014 film Boyhood. Maita released her second studio album, Fio da Memória, in 2016.
