Biography
Los Zafiros, a Cuban close-harmony vocal group, formed in Havana on December 17, 1962. Inspired by American groups like The Platters, they became part of Cuba's filin movement, blending Cuban rhythms with various genres. Their initial lineup included Leoncio Morúa (Kike), Miguel Ãngel Cancio Soria (Miguelito), Homero Ignacio Elejalde Sánchez, and Eduardo Elio Hernández Mora (El Chino). The group gained popularity almost instantly and released notable tracks like "La Luna en Tu Mirada" (1960) and "Amor Loco" from the film Soy Cuba in 1964. Their catalog includes releases such as Los Zafiros (1961), MÃrame Fijo (1964), and Volver... Volver (1974). Their music was featured internationally, including in the series Breaking Bad. Despite political challenges, Los Zafiros remained influential. The group disbanded in 1976, but their legacy endured through posthumous releases and recognitions.
