Biography

Los Straitjackets is an American instrumental rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1988. Originally known as The Straitjackets, the group was founded by guitarists Danny Amis and Eddie Angel with drummer L. J. "Jimmy" Lester, later reforming in 1994 with bassist E. Scott Esbeck. Their debut album, The Utterly Fantastic and Totally Unbelievable Sound of Los Straitjackets (1995), established their signature blend of surf rock, rockabilly, and instrumental rock. The band became known for energetic live shows featuring matching suits, gold medallions, and Mexican wrestling masks. They have released numerous albums, including Jet Set (2012) and What's So Funny About Peace, Love And... (2017), a tribute to Nick Lowe. Known for collaborations with artists such as Eddy Clearwater and Lowe, Los Straitjackets remain influential in instrumental rock.
