Los Rabanes, formed in Chitré, Herrera, Panama, emerged in the early 1990s when childhood friends Emilio Regueira Pérez, Christian âPipónâ Torres, and Javier Saavedra began performing in local pubs. Their first breakthrough came with the 1996 single "¿Por Qué Te Fuiste Benito?", which gained regional radio play and led to a performance on the inaugural Rock Nacional tour. The band released their debut album, also called ¿Por Qué Te Fuiste Benito? Los Rabanes, that same year, and featuring a blend of ska, punk, and Latin rhythms that established their distinctive sound. In 2007 they released Kamikaze, which earned the Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album by a Duo or Group with Vocals on 8 November 2007. Subsequent releases included Money Pa' Que on 30 November 2009 and Urban Rock in 2013, the latter featuring collaborations with Flex and Miguel Ãngel Tesis. Los Rabanes signed with Universal Music in 2007 and later with Crescent Moon Records, and toured extensively across Latin America, sharing stages with acts such as Maná and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Their work has been featured in film soundtracks, including La Herencia in 2016.
